Oakland Mine
The Oakland Mine is located on what was earlier called the Red Cliff mine as early as 1907 and (at least briefly) owned by the Guggenheims. The new Oakland and Bay City groups of claims (including the Berkeley and Cabell) were located in July 1921. Little is documented from that decade, but by the early 1930s the property was owned by Albert C. Calkins, the deputy from Searchlight. Around 1935, a Nissen four-stamp mill was erected, but it would appear that most work at the mine ended within the next few years.
