Tenmile Station

George Clayton started Tenmile Station and ranch in 1869 along the Elko-Hamilton road, named for its position ten miles from the former. In the 1890s, the property was taken over by John Yowell, and in 1903 a school was opened which lasted until the 1920s. Notably, the old station was used as a speakeasy by Evelyn "Little Eva" Mason during the 1920s.
