Orovada
The small farming community of Orovada was first settled in 1918, reportedly named for the Spanish word for gold - oro - rather than its proximity to the Oregon border. A newspaper, the Orovada Weekly Journal, was founded by I.J. Studebaker and lasted from September 5, 1924 until August 28, 1925 after publishing 52 issues.
