The McTigue Mill was initially built as a 15-stamp amalgamation mill around the turn of the century. During the 1930s the Recovery Milling Co. converted it to a ball and flotation mill. It was purchased by the South Comstock Gold Mines Co. in 1933, becoming known as the South Comstock Mill, producing approximately $588,000 before closing in 1940.
The Trimble Mill was built by R.A. Trimble and Nate Dunsdan in 1900. Originally a 5-stamp, it was later enlarged to 13. It operated into the 1930s.
Donovan Mill - Located at the site of the 1863 Kelsey Mill, the 10-stamp Dazet Mill was built in 1890. In 1895, it was purchased by Professor Robert D. Jackson, who outfitted it with the first cyanide plant on the Comstock. A partnership was started with Dr. J. Warne Phillips in 1900, and Phillips took over the mill a few years later. In 1912, it was sold to William Donovan, Sr., who further enlarged the mill and whose family would operate it until 1959. The property was purchased by the Comstock Foundation in 2014, and efforts are ongoing to preserve and restore the complex.
The Pollard & Trimble Mill, one of the earliest cyanide mills on the Comstock, was erected in 1900 by R.A. Trimble. William Donovan, Sr. purchased the mill in 1909, later operating it in tandem with his neighboring Donovan Mill.
The Dayton Consolidated Mill was built in 1934 by the Dayton Consolidated Mines Company. It was closed by the War Production Board in 1942, but operated again briefly in the late part of that decade.
