San Pedro
San Pedro, or Sanpedro, was a small town that developed near Willow Patch Spring during the boom at Black Horse. The townsite was first laid out in spring 1907, taking its name from the San Pedro mine, with a store, lumber yard, and feed lot operated by F.D. McQueen opening soon thereafter. Due to the availability of water, San Pedro's location was selected by the Blackhorse Central Mining Company as the site for a new 20-stamp mill. By March 1909, plans called for only ten stamps to be installed (though foundations would be laid for twenty). An arrastra was completed that year, but it took until late 1910 for a mill to finally be completed by the Amalgamated Nevada Mines Company, which took over most of Black Horse's mines that year. San Pedro gained a post office for nearly a year before a decline in ore at Black Horse eventually led to the town's abandonment. The mill ceased regular operations by 1913, and was ultimately destroyed by fire that August.
